PETCO was informed today, July 2, that United Pet Group (UPG) was voluntarily recalling several of its nutritional supplements for dogs and cats due to potential salmonella contamination. The recall affects six SKUs carried by PETCO in the Excel and PETCO brands, in tablet and powdered form, located in the Vitamins & Remedies section.

PETCO was notified today, June 19, that Natural Balance is voluntarily recalling Natural Balance Sweet Potato & Chicken Dry Dog food with the “Best By” date of June 17, 2011, in 5- and 28-pound bags because it has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Back in September, Diamond Pet Foods issued a voluntary recall for Premium Edge Finicky Adult Cat and Premium Edge Hairball cat citing the potential to produce thiamine deficiency as the cause for the recall.
