Posh Paws Pit Bull

My pit bull has posh paws. I know how this sounds… trust me I laughed (obnoxiously) when our Petco Grooming Guru told me that my tough pittie, Mollie, was in desperate need of a Posh Paws treatment. Turns out, the joke was on me. She pointed out how gingerly Mollie was walking because her nails were long and jagged and her paws were dry and cracked.

Here I am feeding my dog top-of-the-line holistic food but by ignoring her paws, I was jeopardizing her health and wellness. I know my fit pit runs like thunder, but paw problems are common for dogs big and small. Things like age, allergies, walking on hot surfaces, and cold weather can all contribute to sore paws.

Summer Snow Day at Unleashed by Petco

Leash-free snow park for pets at Unleashed by Petco

Dogs having fun at the pet snow park.

A Snow Day in the Summer?  My dog thinks it’s cool!

My pup Petey got to play in the snow in the middle of August right here in sunny Southern California. How is that possible? Last Saturday Unleashed by Petco in Chula Vista held a “Summer Snow Day”. A truck delivered huge cubes of ice to the store’s parking lot and transformed them into snow with the help of snow machines. The end result was a leash-free snow park for dogs.

When it was Petey’s turn in the snow park, he ran right in and started playing with the toys, licking the snow and digging around with his paws. He had such a blast!

Here in San Diego we don’t Continue reading »

The Petco Zoo – It’s Official

Admit it. Entertaining kids is hard work.

Fish at the Petco Zoo

My four year old is a wriggling ball of energy and imagination and I get worn out much faster than she does, both mentally and physically. There are only so many games of dress-up and pretend I can handle.

Yesterday she spent a solid hour in the backyard kiddy pool pretending she was a turtle at the zoo. She wanted me to comment on how beautiful the pink turtle was and pat it on the head.

While heading to the real zoo is an option it’s not always practical. Thankfully our local Petco works great in a pinch. It’s free entertainment and my Continue reading »

A Dog’s Declaration

Written by Meghan Scott (PETCO Foundation Star Supporter)

There comes a time in every dog’s life when the rules of everyday life imposed by masters everywhere simply becomes to much. It is at this time that dogs must band together to help our humans see the light and impose changes for a better life.

From this day forward these wrongs among others will no longer be tolerated. It is time that our barks no longer be ignored and silenced. Instead they should be heard and understood to create stepping-stones to a new world.

We realize that there may be a few misunderstandings due to our actions and we will take responsibility for clearing those up. Muddy paws are not meant to be a mess or inconvenience. They are simply our version of artwork for you placed on the floor instead of paper. When we chew up your shoes or clothes it is not Continue reading »
