New Year’s Resolution

Did you make a New Year’s Resolution this year? I tend to shy away from the idea because I never stick to it and then I inevitably feel bad about myself, but this year I decided to give it a shot. I am going to exercise three times a week. Now I know a lot of you are thinking, that’s not a big deal, but let me tell you, I hate the gym. I hate the gym and I hate exercising.

This is part of the reason why I want a dog. Besides the whole loyal companion thing, I want someone to exercise with!

It's time to play!

When you have a dog you have to go on walks, because they need exercise (I guess I do too…). And I don’t think it stops there – I think a dog would help me live a healthier lifestyle in general. With all the natural and organic food available for pets nowadays, I feel like, if my dog can eat that well, so can I!

For now I will have to settle for pure self-motivation, since my apartment complex doesn’t allow pets, but that doesn’t stop me from encouraging you! If you have a New Year’s resolution involving a healthier lifestyle, I encourage you to include your pet. Take them on those daily runs (walks work too!) and help them eat better by buying the products you know are good for them.

Not sure where to start? PETCO just partnered with Natural Balance to make a Fit Kit for dogs – it has all the basics to maintain a healthy, active lifestyle for your pet – isn’t that what you want for yourself? Well want it for your pet too! After all, you’re in this together.

  • Hi Brooke,

Regarding your comment: “…since my apartment complex doesn’t allow pets…”, these times are achangin’!

In California, a lot of landlords/building owners have “seen the light”, and are starting to allow pets, if not outright welcoming them.

They are learning that pet owners can be a darn responsible group of folks, and are saying in ads “some pets allowed, please submit application w/ animal references.”

Speaking for myself, NOBODY EXCEPT MY DOG could convince me to get out of my cozy warm bed at 3am and go out in a cold windy rainstorm. Yet I do it with pleasure… grateful for the never-ending joy that he adds to my life!
