If you’ve had the pleasure to meet Tillman, you’ll notice his tremendous energy! Running, excited and always wanting to get on that skateboard! Good thing he has great control on his skateboard or it could be a disaster! Luckily he didn’t hit the Alamo.
Enjoy!

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said on Monday it was investigating cases of Salmonella infections linked to contact with water frogs, including African dwarf frogs.
At PETCO, the health and wellbeing of our customers and their pets is our top priority. That’s why, in light of the recent Salmonella cases, all of our stores where we sell aquatic life and bettas are being directed to place special signs in the aquatics areas of their store to remind customers how to safely and properly handle all companion animals, particularly amphibians and reptiles.
Additionally, Care Sheets that provide specific information on the safe handling of aquatic life and the proper care for all companion animals, including reptiles and amphibians, are available to Continue reading »
Back in September, Diamond Pet Foods issued a voluntary recall for Premium Edge Finicky Adult Cat and Premium Edge Hairball cat citing the potential to produce thiamine deficiency as the cause for the recall.
It is important to note that PETCO does not carry these products. However, since Diamond Pet Foods just published more [...]
According to a recent poll, 52 percent of pet parents plan to buy their animals holiday gifts this year. That’s up 9
 Yum.
percent from last year! I completely believe this, especially since I don’t even have a pet of my own (yet!), but this time of year I’m always seeing cute pet toys and wondering, who can I get that for??
So, our merchandising folks did some brainstorming and testing here at PETCO and came up with our favorite holiday gifts this season. Now I may be biased, but I have to say, I totally agree with the choices. I mean, how cool is the giant rawhide candy cane? I could totally see Beethoven chomping down on that.
And ever feel like you need something to occupy your pooch with, so Continue reading »

I get to do a lot of really cool things working at PETCO. I mean, Chihuahua races? Writing about heartwarming animal stories? Pet-sitting at the office? C’mon, it really doesn’t get much better. But, last week, I got to do one of the coolest things I’ve done yet. I spent a morning with Dick Van Patten. At his house. Just hanging out and listening to his stories.
 Me and Dick Van Patten.
Most people know Dick — or Dickie, as I noticed lots of people call him — as the 1970s TV dad from Eight is Enough – or, I don’t know, maybe from his hundreds of other roles and appearances in American television, film and theater over the last 75 years (NBD, right?). And, if you’re a PETCO shopper, you also know him (or, perhaps, only know him) as the face of Natural Balance pet food.
Side note: To be totally honest, Continue reading »
Howdy Folks! Are you ready for this week’s comic from the Chronicles of Tillman? I sure am. Moving here from Texas, I can contest to the pride Texans take in their great state and the Alamo! Happy Tillman was able to make the trip to the Lone Star state and get some boarding in [...]
Which piece am I going to knock over next?
My husband and I have recently established a family game night. We turn off the TV, turn on the music and play board games or card games from our childhood. It just so happens that last night was our family game night and we were set to play our first game night purchase – Life. My cousins and I used to play this game every time we visited our grandparents, so there are many fond memories attached to this particular game.
I was feeling all warm and fuzzy and happy to be sitting on the living room floor playing Life with my new husband – our kids all snuggled around us.
Imagine my surprise when we began to play and I realized that Life now has stops where the player can adopt a pet! I shrieked when I noticed the move on the board – you even get to pick a Life tile, which everyone knows is the secret to winning the game. It could have been a move on the boards I used to play as a child but I’m pretty sure this is new…and this makes it a relevant reflection of how society views bringing home a new pet, right? I think so. Continue reading »
