I am from a small town in Indiana. I’m in 9 grade I was merely researching on a projected when I cam a crossed this story and decided to read it. Then as I began to read I was brought to tears and just wonted to hold him embrace him love him for ever. But it is not what he has been thru that we should dwell on is his bright new live that lies ahead for a brave dog.

~ Nico...you are my hero......your picture taken at the shelter with your head down and your eyes closed is my desktop backround on my computer....you were beautiful then and you are even more beautiful now....your picture reminds me of why I am so passionate about animals and why I support animal rescue efforts and charities....I am so glad someone took a chance on you and you are now on your way to your "happily everafter"...I am looking forward to reading the rest of your journey...

I've been asked many times why I rescue Pit Bulls when I could rescue a cute little ball of fluff instead. From now on I'll just refer them to Nico's story.

I have been involved in volunteer rescue work for some time now. A lot of people ask me why i am so emotional or/and passionate about animals, in particular dogs. Most people who dont know me well take it a step further and ask why i would devote my time and energy to saving a particular breed perceived to be dangerous and harmful. To answer their questions, i am not only asking them, but also challenging them to read this story. After reading this story, i am then asking them to remind themselves that this is just ONE dog's story. And finally to access their feelings and emotions following. I do my best to re-educate people on the misconceived notions of this feared breed.I talk til im blue in the face of how these animals are NOT what the media portrays them as, how often these stories are falsely reported etc. Sometimes its hard with all the wrong education out there, but now, with this story i have something to show people who ask why i do this. I have a story to direct them to that shows what horrors these dogs endure at the hands of some humans, when often the only thing they want is to be loved. Even after such harsh cruelty and neglect. I want to thank you for one more piece of positive literature that helps me fight the good fight.
