It was another weekend of intense competition as hundreds of Chihuahuas and their human companions gathered in Boston, Philadelphia and Miami for the final round of regional heats in PETCO’s 5th Annual National Chihuahua Races. Now, seven speedy pups have two weeks to prepare to claim, re-claim, deffend or steal the title of America’s Fastest Chihuahua.
A tiny speedster named Dallas took the regional win in Miami this morning, proving that age has nothing to do with speed. At only 7-months-old, she’s one of the youngest pups to ever make it to the national finals.
With only two days of practice before entering the competition, a 3 1/2-year-old rookie racer named Roo took first place in Boston.
And, talk about competition – Maddy is back! That’s right. The 4-year-old veteran racer from New York took first place in Philadelphia today, determined to prove she is America’s Fastest Chihuahua — again. After unseating the 2006 winner, Tiger, for the championship in 2007, Maddy gave up her reign to Tiger again in 2008. Now (after Tiger proved he’s still in it to win it, too, by taking first place in the Bay Area earlier this month) Maddy is bringing the heat and ready to face her rival on her home turf in two weeks.
Next up: All seven regional winners will race head-to-head in New York City’s Riverside Park on Saturday, Aug. 29.

I haven’t seen the winner of Clifton Height, PA (Philly) posted. I was there when Joey Quan and Kona won the second heat.
When will the video(s) and or pictures be posted from the Philadelphia race in Clifton Heights. It was so much fun!
