This may seem like an unusual question for someone who doesn’t work in a pet-friendly office, but I hear it on a regular basis. One of the perks of working at the PETCO office is we get to bring our pets to work with us. I usually bring my dog Ace 2-3 days per [...]
I always hate being the bearer of disappointing news, but somebody has to do it …
This weekend's Chihuahua Race Finals in New York City have been canceled due to weather.
Our primary concern at PETCO is always the safety and well-being of pets and their people. With this in mind, due to potentially dangerous [...]

I don't know what's happening but I love the attention.
So today is my birthday. It’s one of those big ones that ends in zero.
No presents please.
It got me thinking about pet’s birthdays. Do you celebrate your pet’s birthday? Do you sing to them? Do you think they understand it is a special day?
What about the “big” birthdays, like the one I am experiencing today? Does that call for an even bigger pet celebration? I did the math and Sammy Snake’s 10 year birthday passed in 2006 and I did nothing to mark the occasion. I could have given him/her some fresh substrate and an extra mouse.

All the regional Chihuahua Races have come to an end and people are getting psyched up for the finals this Saturday. You know the deal, past rivalries, young blood, fresh competitors…it’s going to be an exciting event. But instead of focusing on what’s to come I’d like to share a story from what already happened, involving Continue reading »
 Magic? Maybe.
The following story comes from Steve Clark, a Natural Balance Demo Representative.
When I started working as a demo representative for Natural Balance Pet Foods, I could not imagine the range of stories I would hear on a daily basis from countless customers as they stopped by my table. As I handed out our samples and information, customers shared their pet stories, most of the time with the “stars” of these stories right beside them. There were times, however, that the stars were no longer beside their parent, which made those stories the most heartfelt and memorable. In my line of work, it was amazing to speak one on one with the loving and dedicated pet parents of these special angels. Most people think a demo representative has an easy job, just stand in a store and hand out samples and product information. But to some customers it’s more than that, to some it makes a difference and in rare occasions, it changes their lives. One such story has Continue reading »
Late last month, authorities in Shelton, Conn. raided a local house and arrested 19 individuals on charges of animal cruelty and illegal gambling. Approximately 150 birds – canaries and saffron finches – were also seized by authorities, who said the birds had been put in betting matches in which they fought to the death.
After one of our district managers heard the disturbing news he sprang into action, contacting Paul Jolly, the Executive Director of the PETCO Foundation. The situation was dire – about half Continue reading »
PETCO's 5th Annual National Chihuahua Races - final round is this Saturday in NYC!
I’ve been completely amazed by this year’s Chihuahua Races and how the competition has shaped up throughout the month. I mean, I knew it was a super fun event and that lots of people get really into it, but I had no idea it could turn into Continue reading »

A Dog Days pup trying to get ballpark food from it's owner
Tuesday night was officially for the dogs at PETCO Park. Our annual Dog Days of Summer event brought out pet parents and their beloved dogs for the Padres win over the Cubs. This once a year event at PETCO Park is definitely one of my personal favorites. As a dog lover, Continue reading »
