However the word law sounds so much cooler than theory so I’m going to call it a law. It’s an idea I’ve been developing over the last 7 years here at PETCO. It’s based purely on my observations and has no basis in science. It is called the Pet Work vs. Fun Proportionality Law. The basic explanation of this law is that as the amount of fun a pet is increases, the amount of work that pet takes to care for increases proportionally. I’ve graphed it below.

Though it can be difficult to pick a breed (especially since most dogs I know are mixes anyway), the following list is comprised of dogs I truly love.
