PETCO – Where the Ducks Go?

Eugene PETCO -- where the ducks go.

Eugene PETCO -- where the ducks go.

If you take a look at the PETCO logo, right under the dog and the cat image (yes, they do have their own names, Red Ruff and Blue Mews) – there is a little tagline that reads: “where the pets go.”

Go to any PETCO store and sure enough there will be a bunch of customers with their dogs – or sometimes more “exotic” animals perched on their shoulders or tucked safely in their pocket.

And then there’s the even more unusual visitors. Take our store in Eugene, Ore. – the destination of choice for a couple of local ducks.

Whether it’s the store’s unique ambiance, curious customers, or the occasional stray dog biscuit from the store’s Pet Bar, I hear that the ducks feel quite at home there. The two, who apparently live in a nearby nature preserve, regularly show up outside of the sliding door just before the store opens and take the first opportunity (I guess the doors are not made to be triggered by a duck) to come in – much to the delight of the local customers.

And you have to give it to them – of all other places to go, these two really knew which PETCO to choose: Eugene is home to the University of Oregon and the Oregon Ducks.  Go Ducks!
